Description

Step into one of South Florida’s oldest and most cherished attractions—Flamingo Gardens. Established in 1927, this 60-acre sanctuary blends vibrant botanical gardens with a thriving wildlife refuge, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors of all ages. As the premier Everglades Learning Center, Flamingo Gardens serves as both a cultural landmark and a living classroom.

BOTANICAL GARDENS
The Wray Botanical Collection and Arboretum at Flamingo Gardens spans 60 acres with over 3,000 species of rare, exotic, and native plants. It houses Florida’s largest collection of native wildlife and 23 Florida Forest Service–designated "Champion" trees, including the state's largest single-trunk tree. Highlights include specialty gardens such as the Orchid Collection, Butterfly Conservatory, Rainforest & Wetlands, and more.

EVERGLADES WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Flamingo Gardens' Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary is home to permanently injured, non-releasable animals and hosts the largest collection of Florida native wildlife, including alligators, bobcats, panthers, otters, eagles, and flamingos. It also features one of the nation’s largest free-flight aviaries and a leading River Otter breeding program.

WRAY HOME MUSEUM
Nestled among 200-year-old Live Oaks, the historic Wray Home Museum was built in 1933 as a weekend retreat by Floyd and Jane Wray. It’s the oldest home in Broward County west of University Drive and was restored to reflect a typical 1930s South Florida country home. Guided tours are offered daily from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

WILDLIFE ENCOUNTER SHOWS
Live shows featuring Florida native wildlife—birds of prey, small mammals, and reptiles—highlighting fun facts and their environmental roles.

NARRATED TRAM TOURS
Enjoy a 30-minute guided tram tour through 42 acres of tropical rainforest, wetlands, and native hammock—featuring some of South Florida’s last natural jungle growth.
